Picasso’s disturbing anti-war painting, “Guernica” (Museo Reina Sofía-Madrid), is the ultimate depiction of the horrors of war, capturing the anguish of the Basque people as they are annihilated by fascist bombs. I have appropriated several of Picasso’s motifs in order to compare the situation in Gaza to that of Guernica in the hope of raising awareness of the Gaza genocide, and genocide in general.
